[ Wash sets the bag down and reaches a hand out for hers to greet her properly -- there are only a handful of people he'll greet with a touch and Marg is on the list, even if he's still kind of awkward about it. ]
A friend of mine from home showed up and he's...... a big guy. He's huge, really, there's not much that'll fit him in the shops so we were hoping you could alter some clothes using other clothes? We grabbed extra for materials. Make the sleeves and pant legs longer, that kind of thing.
[ It's an assortment of things pants and shirts and sweatshirts, mostly two of the same of everything so that she has more material to work with but they couldn't always find an extra. Margaery might have to get creative.
Wash grins at the comments. ]
Yeah, he was always the quiet type, even before losing his voice. And I guess it is, around here -- mine's pretty standard except for the paint job, his is unique. The EVA helmet gives you better visibility.
[fortunately for her, she's learned how to make do with little over the past year and a half.
she smiles back warmly]
Oh! He lost his voice? That would explain much. May I ask how it happened, or would that be betraying a confidence? And better visibility than what you have?
It's okay, I don't think he'd mind -- he was shot in the throat but he survived. And yeah, it's better than mine. Trackers make up for that, though, I can "see" better in armor than I can without it. Everything around me is indicated on the HUD. Uh, the display on the inside.
Shot in the throat! Where I'm from, that would be a killing wound, no matter any Maester's skill. It's a miracle he lived! And, the display. . . may I--may I see it? Out of curiosity.
Our medicine is more advanced, I'm sure, especially in the field -- and it's Maine. He's the most badass fighter I've ever seen.
[ He needs a moment to think about the display question, then shrugs. ]
Sure. I don't have my armor on me though, obviously. If you want to come by and put my helmet on it won't display a lot of features without an implant but you can get an idea.
[she smiles] It wouldn't be difficult to be more advanced in terms of medicine. Honestly, I think most Maesters read books written two or three hundreds of years ago and don't bother to apply anything they might have learned, as you say, in the field.
[she waits patiently, yet expectantly]
Obviously not. But I would like the chance to see through your eyes, even just a little.
Really..? They haven't made any new discoveries in all that time? Our medicine is constantly advancing.
[ He doesn't mind her wearing the helmet, his only hesitation was considering how much would be active without an implant for it to sync with. ]
Stop by whenever you want, then. I bet it's like nothing you've ever seen before. An HUD is like if you were doing something on your phone and seeing the world at once. Real time alerts for everything going on.
The rules and regulations of the Citadel where the Maesters are educated are tightly constrained. They don't exactly look kindly upon those who test the boundaries of what's already known.
[and goodness knows she's certainly not getting one of those]
I'm sure it will be! I'm already amazed by these phones, the thought of something far more advanced than that is really something special.

Ah, yes! I've met him. He arrived at my door and I brought him in to tea.

[ She gets a squeeze back before he lets go to open the bag and show her what they managed to grab. ]
Did you recognize his armor or something, then? He's kind of intimidating.

[she inspects it curiously]
Yes, I did. Your armor is quite distinctive.
