I am glad to hear it. And I suppose quiet is better than chaos. No news is good news, and all those other boring platitudes.

Our journey is off to a rather calm start, but I hesitate to say anything too confident for fear of tempting fate. The ocean is hardly my favorite place.

Oh, I'm sure chaos will be unleashed eventually. It's the nature of the so-called gods to do so.

Then why did you not stay here with the rest of us? I would have been happy to entertain you.

I'm sure you're right. Their complete lack of composure is embarrassing, when I think of particular gods back home.

That's very kind of you to say. However, I left because there are certain people I can't allow out of my sight for too long, and stopping them from doing what they want is near impossible.

I see! I have friends who are much the same. They see a path before them, and they take it no matter what nonsense they encounter along the way.

Well, the answer varies from god to god, but the Lady I serve is certainly formidable. Tough, but fair. She wields her power with grace and elegance. She is nothing at all like these liches.

Exactly. It's often as admirable as it is infuriating.

She certainly doesn't sound like it! Goodness knows we could use a little grace and elegance around here along with someone who can be tough, but fair. But may I ask what a lich is?

That's precisely it. I wouldn't change them for the world, but I sometimes wish they'd give their actions a little more thought.

If she was here, things would certainly be very different, I can promise you that. She wouldn't stand for all this unnatural death, for one.

Ah, pardon me. Sometimes I forget how different all of our worlds are. A lich is a creature no longer living, sustaining itself by feeding on the emotions of those who are- more often than not, the negative emotions. Easier to manufacture, I imagine.

And yes, I can certainly sympathize with the sentiment.

That by itself makes her a huge improvement over the beings here calling themselves gods.

That sounds like them. I even wonder about those who supposedly need more benign emotions.

I suppose that's what we're there for, to be the voice of reason.
