[ It's an assortment of things pants and shirts and sweatshirts, mostly two of the same of everything so that she has more material to work with but they couldn't always find an extra. Margaery might have to get creative.
Wash grins at the comments. ]
Yeah, he was always the quiet type, even before losing his voice. And I guess it is, around here -- mine's pretty standard except for the paint job, his is unique. The EVA helmet gives you better visibility.
[fortunately for her, she's learned how to make do with little over the past year and a half.
she smiles back warmly]
Oh! He lost his voice? That would explain much. May I ask how it happened, or would that be betraying a confidence? And better visibility than what you have?
[Fingon rises after her, worry written on his face.]
Normally, I would think so- it has been his way to seek some solitude, after all. But I have checked his usual haunts, just to be sure, and he is nowhere to be found in the city. And now that his name has vanished from the phone list, I can draw no other conclusion.
It's okay, I don't think he'd mind -- he was shot in the throat but he survived. And yeah, it's better than mine. Trackers make up for that, though, I can "see" better in armor than I can without it. Everything around me is indicated on the HUD. Uh, the display on the inside.
Shot in the throat! Where I'm from, that would be a killing wound, no matter any Maester's skill. It's a miracle he lived! And, the display. . . may I--may I see it? Out of curiosity.
Our medicine is more advanced, I'm sure, especially in the field -- and it's Maine. He's the most badass fighter I've ever seen.
[ He needs a moment to think about the display question, then shrugs. ]
Sure. I don't have my armor on me though, obviously. If you want to come by and put my helmet on it won't display a lot of features without an implant but you can get an idea.
[she smiles] It wouldn't be difficult to be more advanced in terms of medicine. Honestly, I think most Maesters read books written two or three hundreds of years ago and don't bother to apply anything they might have learned, as you say, in the field.
[she waits patiently, yet expectantly]
Obviously not. But I would like the chance to see through your eyes, even just a little.
Really..? They haven't made any new discoveries in all that time? Our medicine is constantly advancing.
[ He doesn't mind her wearing the helmet, his only hesitation was considering how much would be active without an implant for it to sync with. ]
Stop by whenever you want, then. I bet it's like nothing you've ever seen before. An HUD is like if you were doing something on your phone and seeing the world at once. Real time alerts for everything going on.
The rules and regulations of the Citadel where the Maesters are educated are tightly constrained. They don't exactly look kindly upon those who test the boundaries of what's already known.
[and goodness knows she's certainly not getting one of those]
I'm sure it will be! I'm already amazed by these phones, the thought of something far more advanced than that is really something special.
[He tells her, trying to keep his voice low and soothing. Maglor, he thinks wearily, had a gift for this sort of comforting, and that made it even harder to fill in when his absence was the cause of the grief in question.]
You're right; he would not. Maglor knows what being left behind is like, and he does not make promises he does not mean to keep. If he could fight the whims of the Door, he would still be here.
[she sits down heavily and leans her her elbows against her legs, propping her head onto her hands. she tries to breath, but it's unsteady and she's obviously deeply shaken to her core]
But--but the accursed Door took him anyway! I would destroy it, I would smash it into little pieces if I could! [a pause] But only after I followed him.
no subject
Ah, yes! I've met him. He arrived at my door and I brought him in to tea.
no subject
[ She gets a squeeze back before he lets go to open the bag and show her what they managed to grab. ]
Did you recognize his armor or something, then? He's kind of intimidating.
no subject
[she inspects it curiously]
Yes, I did. Your armor is quite distinctive.

--no! He can't be gone, he wouldn't leave me, he promised to see me safely to Earth and I--and I--no!

[Social interactions, what are they? Combat is easier. Plan, strategize, attack... Bark orders. Follow Orders. Easy!]
You're good with a sword, right? Was looking to work on some of my skills and thought a partner would be beneficial.
voice
[while she's been trained to charm and cajole and subtly influence from birth]
Well, I don't like to brag [lies. she loves bragging] but I'd like to think I've become adept with one, yes. And I would love to assist you!
voice
[But sometimes less is more, as she's learning, especially in a place where resources aren't always that easy to come by.]
Good. Thank you. Not certain if there are times or days that work better for you.
voice
[and she's learned that people seem to like her best when she's herself, when she's honest]
It's my pleasure! And let's see, I usually start to practice at seven in the morning every day. Is that too early or often for you?
voice
I'm usually up earlier, so that works just fine.
voice
That's wonderful. Where would you like to meet?
voice
Range has a flat surface, although more people. Library ruins? Unless you've another suggestion.
voice
The library ruins are fine with me. Honestly, anywhere would have been fine with me now that we no longer have to take boats everywhere.
